-Ikorodu LG, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA CDCs hold elections tomorrow

After successfully electing executives across the 200 Community Development (CDAs) in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), representatives of the CDA gathered on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, to elect officers of the Community Development Committees (CDC).
At the election held at the Council’s Area Office, LASTMA Compound along Ikorodu – Shagamu Road, Ikorodu, Prince Adeniran Ogunbanwo from Agunbiade CDA was elected as the CDC Chairman with 115 votes.
He defeated his opponent, Mr Oladapo Sunday Moses, from Godlead CDA who scored 46 votes.
Mr John Oluwole of Ipoyewa CDA polled 51 votes to emerged as the Vice Chairman 1, while Lawal S.O. with 33 votes emerged as Vice Chairman 2.
For the position of General Secretary, Samson Omomo of Ileri-Oluwa CDA scored 77 votes to emerged winner beating his opponent, Babayemisi K. Fakunmoju from Parafa CDA who scored 71 votes.
Three candidates withdrew from race.
Others elected were Olawuyi T. Ajala (Assistant General Secretary), Adewo Oluwole (Treasurer), Yekinni Isikalu (Financial Secretary), Timothy Oluwoye (Auditor), Efenju Joseph (Public Rrelations Officer) Sulaimon Risikatu (Social Secretary), Ogunde Taiwo (Welfare 1) and Rasak Saheed (Welfare 2).
The past chairman and secretary will join new executives who were immediately sworn-in as ex-officios.
The election was supervised by officials from the Ministry of Local Government & Community Affairs (MLG&CA), led by Mrs Bola Giwa.
Other officials from state in attendance were Mrs Bello Aromire Alliamin and Mr Olufemi Falomo.
Prince Adeniran Ogunbanwo, the CDC Chairman elect, in his acceptance speech, urged members to come together and work for the development of Ikorodu North LCDA.
“Election has come and gone. I want us to come together again to move Ikorodu North LCDA forward”, he appealed.
“Although, I come from Agbede but I belong to everyone as the chairman”.
He commended the immediate past CDC Chairman, Elder Laja Martins, for setting a high standard in term of performance and support.
“I also want to commend the CDC Chairman emeritus, Elder Laja Martins, for setting high standard of performance while in office and for his support. Now, we, the new executives, have to come together and improve on that standard”, the Chairman elect stated.
“We have to give our total commitment and dedication in discharging our responsibilities in our various positions. In my tenure, my Vice Chairmen would have responsibilities to discharged. They are going to be functional”.
He appealed to other contestants and members to accept the outcome of the election and join hands in moving the council forward.
“Whatever the yardstick that you may want to use in judging the election, the fact is that we have conducted an election and winners have clearly emerged. I want to appeal to contestants that lost in the election and their supporters to accept the situation in the interest of the council”, he appealed.
“As your chairman, I will not deny anybody his or her rights and privileges. I am here to work with everyone so that we can succeed together”.
Prince Ogunbanwo, while also pledging that his administration would work with the chairman and other officials of the Ikorodu North LCDA, he also informed the council to provide official bus for the CDC operations.
Also speaking, the immediate past chairman, Elder Laja Martins stated:
“I want to appeal to winners to be humble in victory and losers to gallantly accept the outcome of the election and work together with the new team”.
He charged the new chairman to work together with his team.
At the election venue to observe proceedings were Hon. Adeola Banjo, Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Adekoya Ay Abiodun, Council Leader, Ikorodu North LCDA and Mr Sheriff Tijani, Supervisory Councilor for Agriculture & Social Development, Elder Olu Omoniyi among others.
Meanwhile, elections into the CDC Executives for Ikorodu Local Government and Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA are slated for tomorrow, Friday, December 20, 2019.
