His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu and the 1st Permanent Vice Chairman, Lagos State Council of Obas & Chiefs, has reassured the people of Isiu in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), that a new King will soon be crowned in the community.
The revered monarch made the reassurance at his palace on Sunday, November 25, 2019, during a get-together organized by the Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS) to celebrate the senior citizens in Ikorodu community.
“I can assure you all that Isiu will soon crown a new king”, Oba Shotobi stated authoritatively.
“This will happen between now and before the end of next year”, he added.
Oba Shotobi made this statement while responding to the plea by Madam Liadi, the Iya-Ijo of St. Paul Anglican Church, Isiu, that the monarch should use his good office in ensuring that an Oba is installed in her community.
THE IMPACT gathered that the emergence of the last monarch in Isiu, who joined his ancestors about 20 years, was controversial and all efforts to pick another one has been unsuccessful.
It was also gathered that reconciliation moves, which were said to have been producing good understanding among the stakeholders in the community, have already produced a Prince from Agbogba Ruling House as the Oba-elect.
Meanwhile, elders and others stakeholders in Ikorodu and Isiu communities have expressed their firm belief in the leadership of Oba Shotobi in ensuring that a new monarch is installed in Isiu soon as he has promised.
They based their belief on the roles he played in the emergence of two other monarchs in Ikorodu division in the last three years and his efforts in ensuring that other communities in the division also have monarchs.
