Dr Olasunkanmi Sulaimon Odesanya, PhD., the Head of Administration of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) , has emerged as the winner of the 2019 Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS) ‘Role Model’ award.
He was presented with the award today at the Youth/Children Activities & Role Model Day which was part of the events marking the 28th Ikorodu-Oga Carnival currently going on at the Ikorodu Town hall, Olubi street, Ikorodu.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, on behalf of IKODASS, presented the award to Dr Odesanya.
Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, Chairman of IKODASS, speaking at the event, stated that the awardee distinguished himself in the areas of mentoring and guiding youths in Ikorodu.
“As part of the celebration today, a gentleman who, in various ways, has contributed to the development of our youths through counselling, mentoring and coaching, will be honoured with the distinguished award of the year, “2019 Role Model of IKODASS”, he stated.
“Dr Sulaimon Odesanya has carved a niche for himself. He is a community man with strong bias for development of youths.
“This gentleman is a source of inspiration to the youths in Ikorodu. I, therefore, call on the youths to remind them that their destinies are in their hands and until you take affirmative steps that will change your lives, you will just be complaining”, he advised.
Dr Odesanya was born into the family of Odesanya of Itunpate in Ikorodu. He bagged his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Accounting from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Edo State and Masters of Science (M.SC) from the University of Lagos, Akoka.
He obtained Doctorate Degree (PhD.) Accounting from the Babcock University, Ilisan, Remo, Ogun State, where his research focused on accounting and ethics related to the quality of financial reporters of quota companies in Nigeria.
He was the Head of Finance and Accounts Department of Lagos Mainland Local government (2003 – 2005), Imota Local Council Development Area (2009 – 2013), Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Gvernment (2013 – 2015), Alimosho Local Government (2016) and currently the Head of Administration of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area.
He is a member of Institute of Secretaries and Administrators of London, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of London and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of London.
He is also a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
