Residents, motorists and other users of Itamaga-Ijede road can finally heave sigh of relief as the construction giant, Arab Contractors, began rehabilitation work on the road which has been causing them untold hardship.
Commuting on the road, which links several communities like Igbogbo, Ijede, Elepe, Gintin, Gberigbe, Mowo-Nla, Mowo-Kekere, Agura and Imota among many others, has been a herculean task due to its impassability state.
Our reporter sighted the Arab Contractors’ tractor and workers around the Elepe axis of the road.
It was gathered that Elepe – Ijede section of the road is the phase I of the palliative work commenced today by the Lagos State Government.
Earlier in the morning, heavy duty trailer was also sighted bringing two construction machines to site.
The governor of the state, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had on Sunday (yesterday) mobilized the construction company to begin work on the road today while HiTech, another construction giant, is also expected to commence work soon on Agric – Owutu road.
