Late Oba Oyefusi ‘s 5th Anniversary: Foundation To Commission Ultra Modern Secretariat

Late Oba Salaudeen Oyefusi, immediate past Ayangbure of Ikorodu

It will be five years on August 2, 2019, since the passage of Oba (Dr) Salaudeen Afolabi Adekoya Oyefusi, CON, the former Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, former Chairman, Ikorodu Division Council of Obas and Chiefs and former Permanent Vice Chairman, Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, and the foundation instituted in his memory has finalized plans to make the anniversary historic with the commissioning of institutions that would immortalize the legendary monarch.

The foundation will on Friday, August 2,2019, commission an operational secretariat with an office for the Executive Secretary, a board room, library for the documentation of history of Ikorodu and preservation of historic documents and artefacts of late monarch.

The secretariat is situated within the Royal Castle of Mercy of the late Oba at Lowa, Ikorodu.

In a release by the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) of Oba (Dr) Salaudeen Afolabi Adekoya Oyefusi Foundation, Otunba Adewale R.O, and the Executive Secretary, Prince Idowu Oyefusi, the secretariat would be commissioned on Friday, August 2, 2019.

Other programmes lined up for the 5th anniversary of the demise of late Ayangbure are annual prayers at the Royal Castle of Mercy, visit to the General Hospital, Ikorodu, for the donation of hospital materials and  Rehabilitation Centre, Owutu, for the donation of materials to the less privileges and motherless children.

There would also be a dinner at the Royal Castle of Mercy for invited guests.

Speaking with THE IMPACT, Prince Idowu Oyefusi stated that the Foundation has also concluded plans to train youths in some skills which would be impactful on them, their families and the community at large.

“We have also concluded plans to start skill acquisition trainings for youths in Ikorodu. Our aim is to truly impact on them and make them productive unlike the various programmes that are everywhere without impact.

“They are going to be trained in the true sense of it because I am also a product of skill training and we are going to empower them to start to put whatever they have learnt into practice”, he stated.

He also added that the foundation is also considering assisting children and youths that desire to go to school or those who could not continue their education because their parents cannot afford the expenses.

Late Oba Oyefusi was a United Nations Peace Ambassador, winner of the best royal father award in 2013 and many other honours.

He was among the few royal fathers that were outspoken in the dark days of the military rule and fought for the current civil rule the country is witnessing today.
