Prominent people, youth leaders and other residents in Ikorodu have been pouring encomiums and prayers on the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson, on his new appointment as Chairman, House Committee on Defence.
The well loved lawmaker was among the over 100 chairmen and Vice Chairmen of House Standing Committees, Ad hoc and investigative panels constituted by the leadership of the lower chamber of the 9th National Assembly on Thursday, July 25, 2015
Many of the residents that spoke on his new appointment described it as deserving and prayed that he succeed in helping the country out of its current security challenges.
The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, in a release, congratulated his federal lawmaker counterpart and described his appointment as an honour for Ikorodu division.
“I congratulate you on your new legislative designation at the House of Reps. God will give you the strenght to excel. It is Ikorodu that is so designated. Our cradle will continue get better and be more visible.
“Kudos to the Hon Speaker, Gbaja “.
Otunba Olusegun Abiru, the Chairman, Ikorodu-Oga Development Association, also congratulated the young lawmaker and wish him success.
“Congrats to Jimi Benson on his new and additional Legislative responsibilty. May the good Lord imbue in you the wisdom and strength to carry out d onerous responsibility of the office to the pride of your family , the State and also the Nation. Best of luck and God’s divine guidance”, he prayed.
Mr Oluwatoyin Gafaar Bolowotan, the Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission, emphatically stated that Hon. Benson is best qualified for the position.
“Congratulations to my brother and super representative, Hon. Babajimi Benson (MHR), on his appointment as the Chairman, House of Representatives committee on Defence. I can boldly say there is no better individual for this job as JB has over the years proven that he is dedicated to the service of others”.
Prince Lanre Sanusi, a House of Representatives aspirant, in his own message, described the appointment as deserving.
“A great feather clipped to the wings of Lagos and dear country Nigeria with our dear Hon. Jimi Benson appointed as the Chairman, House Committee on Defence.

The Secretary to the Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Government, Barr. Ade Ayeni, described Hon. Benson as pride of Ikorodu division.
“Congratulations to my adorable ‘egbon’ (brother) and the pride of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Benson, on your appointment today as the Chairman, House Committee on Defence. May you continue to fly so high boss. Mo yo fun e, mo yo fun rami! (I am happy for you; I am happy for myself).
Tayo Odesanya, a journalist and public commentator, also described the appointment as deserving.

Hamzat Jimoh, a political scientist public commentator also stated that he is not in doubt of the lawmaker’s capacity to perform in his new task

House Defense Chairman: Leaders, Constituents In Ikorodu Pour Encomium, Prayers On Hon. Benson
