Comrade Wasiu O. Raji and other new members of the executive council of the Isiwu Youth Development Movement(IYDM) have been inaugurated.
They were inaugurated at a ceremony held at the Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat on Thursday, June 27, 2019.
The inauguration lecture themed, “Youths, instrument for community development” was delivered by Comrade Adeleke Akadiri, former Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu Local Government.
The Chairman of the Electoral and Inauguration Committee, Hon Jumoke Olukoga, presented the newly elected officers to the large gathering at the event.
Other officers sworn-in at the ceremony were Comrade Saheedat Otaiku (Vice Chairman) , Comrade Kayode Okuyiga (Secretary), Comrade Afeez Amus (Assistant Secretary) , Comrade Kehinde Isikalu(Treasurer) , Comrade Tanimowo Akeem (Social Secretary) , Comrade Muyibi Idowu(Financial Secretary), Comrade Tijani Akeem(Public Relations Officer), Comrade Badrudeen Gafaru (Public Relations Officer 2) , Comrade Rabiu Afeez Opeyemi (Organizing Secretary) , Comade Mukaila Egundeyi(Welfare Officer 1) ,Comrade Oluwaseun Saka(Welfare 2), Comrade Taiwo Raji (Chief Whip), and Comrade Idowu Alebiosu (Legal Adviser).
The administration of oath of office was conducted by the Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Kunle Ogunbela, who was the first Secretary of IYDM and the former Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA .
Alhaji Musa Sulaimon, in his welcome address, traced the history of IYDM to 1987 when it was established .
According to him, Late Ranti Awolesi was the first Chairman while Hon Alice Raji and Hon. Kunle Ogunbela were the first Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively and added that there were other exco members who were not less than 70.
He mentioned achievements recorded by the movement in the areas of culture, politics, project execution and social wise.
Hon. Adeola Banjo, Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon Ayo Adekoya, Council Leader, Ikorodu North LCDA , Rev Sunday Balogun, Hon Haruna Balogun, former Vice Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA and Hon Wasiu Banwo, former Council Leader, Ikorodu North LCDA, in their separate speeches, charged the newly inaugurated officers to give their total commitment and dedication to the movement, development of Isiwu and Ikorodu North LCDA in general.
Earlier, the new IYDM Chairman, Comrade Wasiu Raji, in his acceptance speech, promised that his administration will build on the achievements of the founding fathers of the movement by playing a neutral role in resolving and providing possible solutions to some of the already noted challenges facing Isiwu community.
He called on the residents of Isiwu and others to join hands with his administration to move the town forward while also charging the youths to support him and his team in the building project of Isiwu town.
