-Appoints ex-Commissioner Amirul Hajj
The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of the inoculation exercise organised for intending pilgrims of 2019 Hajj from Tuesday, 18th June 2019.
Mr. Rahman Ishola, Board Secretary, Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, who made this known on Monday, explained that the exercise will ensure that all intending pilgrims are vaccinated against polio, yellow fever and meningitis as well as provide opportunity for the doctors to re-examine pilgrims after having undergone medical screening at a designated General hospital in the State.
He further stated that pilgrims from Agege and Ajeromi Ifelodun are billed for Tuesday, 18th June 2019, while those from Alimosho, Amuwo Odofin and Apapa will are scheduled for Wednesday, 19th June. Pilgrims from Badagry/ Ojo, Epe / Ibeju, Eti-Osa and Ifako-Ijaiye are slated for Thursday, 20th June while Ikeja and Ikorodu are scheduled for Friday, 21st June.
He added that Kosofe and Lagos Island pilgrims are scheduled for Monday, 23rd June while Lagos Mainland, Mushin, Oshodi- Isolo, Somolu and Surulere will be vaccinated on Tuesday, 24th June.
While noting that the Board pilgrims will receive attention by the final day, Wednesday, 25th June, Ishola stated that the main purpose of the vaccination and medical examination is to certify that intending pilgrims are physically and mentally fit for the hajj exercise while those with identified illnesses are given appropriate treatment preparatory to the trip.
The Secretary afirmed the State government’s determination to ensure that the exercise, scheduled to run from 10a.m to 4p.m each day, is hitch free, revealing that Wednesday, 3rd July has been fixed for the one-day seminar where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will interact with the 2019 Hajj participants and bid them farewell before departure to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of the former Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Lateef Abdul-Hakeem as the 2019 Amir-Ul Hajj.
