Zenith Peer Club Inducts New Members

The Zenith Peer Club of Nigeria took a major step in re-energising it’s structure with young and dynamic professionals and placing one of the leading Ikorodu in Ikorodu in good stead for the 21st century challenges with the induction of new members .

 The induction ceremony, which was attended by members of the club, family members and friends of the four inductees, was held at the club house situated along Aga/Gbasemo Road, Aga, Ikorodu, on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

Those inducted were Peer Olanrewaju Muyiwa Akintobi, a civil servant with the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Peer Lukman Adekunle Lawal, also a civil servant with the Ministry of Physical Planning & Urban Development and a reputable engineer.

Others were Peer Oluwaseyi Adelani Adelabu, a civil servant with Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) and a public commentator and Peer (Barr.) Babatunde Salami, a legal practitioner.

The Club was established in 1989.

The administration of oath on the new members was conducted by the former Chairman, NBA, Ikorodu branch and a senior member of the club, Peer Saheed O.K. Shillings, after which the Proclamation was done by the President, Peer Babajimi Tokoya.

 While welcoming the new members, Chief Babajimi O. Tokoya, the President of the club, stated that new members are being inducted in the same month the club was established in 1989.

He highlighted the demands of reputable social club like Zenith for members and what the expectations of the society from the club.

“It is not out of coincidence that the ceremony holding today is in the same month the club was established.

 “Belonging to a Social club of this status is highly demanding in terms of what is expected from it and what is equally expected from the members”.

“Aside networking and socialization, the club stands to give welfare protection to its members”.

 President Sokoya, who admitted that the club had had its challenges, also announced that reforms are being introduced into the club’s operation.

 He also stated that the 30th anniversary of the club is slated for August, 2019.

 “The club is witnessing reforms in terms of program focus which is expanding to club house development, welfare of members and giving back to the society”.

All these, according to him, are to be captured in the 30th anniversary program slated for August this year.

 “We have had our challenges but will not be deterred”.

 While welcoming the new members, Sokoya challenged them to be in tune with modernity and give their total commitments to the club.

 “I want to congratulate our inductees for this first of it’s kind ceremony. Dear Peers, the world is dynamic and we can’t afford to be operating in the analog age when we are in the digital era.

“This ceremony is a solemn one and calls for dedication and commitments from new members. Equally, the old members should see this event as a wake up call to better service”.

 The President, who hinted of the expiration of his tenure, added that his plan is to live behind a stronger club than he met it.

 “I am aware that the second term of my tenure expires soon, I want to leave behind stronger foundation upon which upcoming executive would build upon”.

While challenging both the old and new members on their financial obligations, Sokoya stated that renovation of the club secretariat, purchase of land for permanent club house among others are some of the projects that the club plans to execute.

 “Once again, I want to thank the almighty God for granting us the grace of life and opportunity to serve our community in our modest capacity. Leadership is about Service. This I have sworn to render.

“I thank you all for your support and the attention paid to my speech. God bless you all”.

After the induction, a modest reception was held during which guests were entertained with sumptuous meals, drinks and music.
