The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ikorodu branch, has released its programmes of activities for this year’s Law Week which is expected to kick off on June 28, 2019, with a workshop sponsored by the British Council and Lagos State Ministry of Justice.
The details of the programmes were contained in a release by the Chairman of the branch, Barr. Bayo Akinlade, Esq.
Also as part of the programmes on the opening day is Legal Aid for Mosque, in partnership with other religious bodies, Office of Public Defender OPD (OPD) & Citizen Mediation Centre (CMC).
On June 29, Sports Outreach is listed but according to the release, partners are still being sought for to help in achieving a successful sporting outreach.
Legal Aid to Church, in partnership with other religious bodies, & CMC, is fixed for Sunday, June 30.
All Day Legal Aid to the communities, in partnership with Total Exploration & Production Coop, OPD & CMC, would take place on July 1, while a press conference, in partnership with the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), is also scheduled for the same day.
According to the release, Legal Aid to communities is expected to continue on July 2.
Chief Babatunde Olusola Benson (BOB) annual lecture, which usually attracts the attendance of legal luminaries, captains of industry and other important personalities across the country, is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, at the Ikorodu Town hall in Ikorodu Local Government area of Lagos State.
Continued Legal Education, which is being organised by YLF in partnership with SPA Ajibade & Co. and ASTEP, will comes up on July 3.
The executive and members of the branch will embarks on visitation in partnership with NMA and Total E&P Coop on same day.
Legal aid to communities, which is an important part of the week-long activities, will continue on July 4 while the 2019 Law Week Dinner, which is strictly by invitation, has been fixed to hold later on the same day.
On Friday, July 5, a free medical care to all members of the Ikorodu branch of the association would be held in partnership with NBA.
Meanwhile, the branch, in the release, appealed to the general public to support her in hosting a successful Law Week by supporting some of her programmes.
“We need your support. What programme would you like to support? ” the release stated.
