NASFAT Youth Wing Honours OPEN President, Chieftains, Others At 9th Eid Funfair

The youths wing of the Nasrul-Lahi-iL-Fatih Society (NASFAT), Ikorodu branch, has honoured some of the founding members and youths who have contributed immensely to the development of the branch and the advancement of God’s work in Ikorodu.

The event, which was tagged, ‘Post Eid el-Fitri Funfair and Merit Awards ’, was held at the Ikorodu NASFAT branch Islamic Centre, Akasoleri, Ikorodu, on Saturday, June 8, 2019.

Mr Gbagba Qudus, the President, Organization of Party Entertainers of Nigeria (OPEN) and a youth leader in Ikorodu who has contributed immensely to the development of the NASFAT Youth wing,  was conferred with Merit of Award alongside Mr Hafiz Salis, a community developer, Alhaja Kafayat Ajenifuja, Secretary, NASFAT Women Affairs and Alhaji Abd Rahman Oshoala, the first chairman of NASFAT, Ikorodu Elders Council and others.

The well attended ceremony,  which was the 9th edition of Eid-Fitri Funfair of the wing,  also served as the last programme for the outgoing Amir/Youth Secretary, Mr Mud’d Quaam Adewale Olowu who has been occupying the position since 2017.

Amir Olowu, in his address, was full of gratitude to God for a successful tenure which he described as remarkable.

“With a heart full of gratitude, I address you today being the last programme of my administration. It has been an honour and  privilege of a life time being the Ameer of this great society.

“It has been a remarkable experience. I am immensely grateful to all stakeholders who have one way or the other supported the development of the youth wing, Ikorodu branch.

“Eid-il-Fitri celebration is an opportunity to reflect on the good deeds and to recommit to the values of gratitude, compassion and generosity; it’s a time to gather and celebrate with loved ones as we witness the 9th edition of Eid-Fitri Funfair”.

Olowu stated that the Merit Awards were conferred on “Some personalities for their unflinching supports overtme; spiritually, financially, morally, as well as their belief that we, the youths, are the glory and leaders of tomorrow”.

“We plan to use this platform to appreciates members who have used their wealth of experience and intellectual capacities to develop our great branch. If not for their selfless services, NASFAT Ikorodu won’t get to where it is today.

“We also recognize their contributions towards the upliftment of NASFAT Youth wing, Ikorodu branch. May Allah continue to be with them”.

Meanwhile, the guest lecturer at the occasion, Sheikh Imam Abd’Semii Ibraheem, the Chief Imam, Gbagada Central Mosque, Lagos, who spoke on the theme, “Leadership in Islam – Youths Panacea”, enjoined Muslim youths and others to emulate and see Prophet Muhammed (SAW) as a role model for the world in leadership.

The Lecturer, who stated that leadership is not solely by force , charged the youths to be ready to contribute to the community without expecting any gain.

He charged the youths to see leadership position as an opportunity to serve humanity and God while also admonishing them to stay out of ungodly act in their bid to attain any position in life.

He also stated that youths should be ready to lead with all their abilities and capacities and always take advise and guidance from their role models.

Speaking with THE IMPACT after his award, Mr Gbagba appreciated the youth wing leadership and the entire NASFAT organization in Ikorodu for the honour bestowed on him, stating that the award will further makes him to use his ability and capacity to develop the wing, NASFAT Ikorodu, Ikorodu community as a whole and humanity in general.

“I feel elated and honoured for the award. I have been contributing my quota to the youth wing of NASFAT and the development of youths in Ikorodu at large for several years. This came at a time I never expected it. I believe more efforts are still on the way as I will continually play positive role in the society ”.
