Ikorodu Division Economic Forum To Serve As Think-Tank, Policy Advocacy Group

The Ikorodu Division Economic Forum, a non-profit making and independent group that organized the first-ever Ikorodu Division Economic Summit in 2018, is set to serve as  the think-tank and policy advocacy group for the division in the 21st century.

 This was part of its objectives as contained in a communiqué released on last week, a copy of which was sent to THE IMPACT.

The group was officially inaugurated immediately after the first Ikorodu Economic Summit held in February 2018, while the body was officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on May 9, 2019.

 On her Board of Trustees are, Dr Tajudeen Olukayode Bawa-Allah, a senior lecturer with Lagos State University and expert in transportation, as Chairman, and Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, former Permanent Secretary/Clerk of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the current Chairman, Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS) as the Executive Secretary.

 According to the release, Ikorodu Division Economic Forum “is not a profit making organization but an independent group with unbiased opinions and it is not tied to any political interest.

The release states further that “The Forum serves as a Think-Tank and policy advocacy group and it is committed to the development of a 21st century economy for lkorodu division”.

 Its mission is “To build a viable and resilient model of an economically developed Ikorodu division anchored on identification of economic potentials capable of attracting investment, generating income and creating employment opportunities on a sustainable basis”.

The body, which is also to serve as a policy platform for the social and economic development of the division, also plans to achieve her set objectives through, “partnering with relevant stakeholders to make Ikorodu division a topmost investment hub not only in Lagos state, but in the whole Nigeria.

“ To promote unity and well being of residents of Ikorodu division, organize the lkorodu Economic Summit as an annual event, promote unity among communities that constitute lkorodu division (these communities are lpakodo, Ibeshe,  lmota, ljede, lgbogbo, lkorodu West and lkorodu North ) towards creating a synergy capable of unlocking the economic potentials of the division and to formulate and analyse policies, guidelines and strategies towards economic development of lkorodu division and make recommendations to relevant authorities.

Also, the group is to serve as an economic advisory arm to the Traditional rulers and government agencies within the division and equally undertake research and policy formulation agendas for the government.

 Members of the group are HRM Oba (Engr) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, HRM Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare-Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota, HRM Oba (Barr) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, HRM Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya, the Olubeshe of Ibeshe, HRM Oba Adeoriyomi Akeem Oyebode, Obateru of Egbin and HRM Oba (Engr) Basiru Aremu Sotomiwa, the Sekumade of Ipakodo.

Other members are Prince Abiola Kosoko, the Chief Executive Offices of Origin Zoo & Gardens, Mr Fatai Olalekan Lasisi, Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State and chairman, Ikorodu Division Human Resource Development Group, Dr Temitope Oshikoya, Oke Godwin Olaoluwa and Mr Hassan Bashiru Oluwakemi.

 The Ikorodu Division Economic Forum  is willing to partner with all well meaning individuals and organisations within Ikorodu division and beyond.
