Youths in Ikorodu, on Friday, March 22,2019, paid a condolence visit to Mrs Janet Anifowoshe, the mother of late Adijat Sikiru , the 17 years old SS1 student of Ansar-Ul-Deen Secondary School, Imota, who was killed by a stray bullet allegedly shot by a Police officer , Sergeant Mudi Emmanuel, on March 18.
Comrade Samson Bisiriyu , the Convener/Executive Director, Ikorodu Division Youths Movement, led other members of the group to the number 11, Akaun Street, Adamo residence of the bereaved mother and family of the deceased.
While consoling Mrs Anifowoshe, Com. Bisiriyu stated that the representatives of the umbrella body for all youths in Ikorodu deemed it fit to identify with the family in their period of grief because, according to him , late Adijat was one of the promising Ikorodu youths whose dream was cut short by the unfortunate incident.
He condemned the unprofessional conduct of the erring police officer, the attempt by the police authority to cover up the matter before the intervention of major stakeholders and how the people made the news about the incident go viral on social media.
Com Bisiriyu prayed that God will give the mother and family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He assured the deceased’s mother that the youth group will work closely with Hon. Agunbiade, the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and other stakeholders in getting justice for her and the family.
Speaking with THE IMPACT at Imota Police Station, Comrade Bisiriyu commended Hon. Agunbiade for his timely intervention and urged him to pursue the matter to a logical conclusion in a bid to ensure that the bereaved family get justice and compensation.
“Our aim is to see that justice is carried out and that the family is adequately compensated. Late Adijat is a youth like us and we considered her one of us while alive but her dream was cut short by a trigger-happy policeman who acted unprofessionally and disgracefully.
“We are going to be part of the team that will get justice for her.
“I want to really commend Hon. S. O. B. Agunbiade for his quick intervention in the matter. I hope that he will get justice for Adijat and also ensure adequate compensation for her family”, he stated.
