To the residents of Ikorodu, there is no time to waste after the election as they have started setting agenda for their elected representatives to pursue with their new mandate.

While congratulating the winners of the Ikorodu Constituencies I and II seats  in the the State Assembly election held on Saturday, March 9,  the residents also tasked them on good representation and performance.

The three incumbent representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson, member, House of Representatives representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, the representative of Ikorodu Constituency I and the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly an Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, the representative of the Ikorodu Constituency II, were all re-elected in the just concluded 2019 General Elections.

A community leader and social media commentator, Mr Monday Ohi Obadan, while congratulating the elected lawmakers,  urged them to  use their mandate to make the division relevant in the scheme of things at the state and federal level of governance.

“Relevance in the scheme of governace – Hon. Jimi Benson set the tone while I congratulated fellow party members’ victory in the State Assembly elections.

“My reading, as an electorate and constituent, is to play my role in setting my expectations of these honourable members of Lagos State House of Assembly, wherein I should be able to assess their performance. I should be able to constructively criticise and not just look away and praise sing them even when they’re not meeting up with their oversight responsibilities”.

He set agendas for them by listing areas  he want them to act upon.

“Some of my expectations are – Ensuring that those whose houses were demolished for road construction are commensurably compensated after two years delay, that the two major road constructions in the two constituencies resumed and timely completed, rehabilitation or construction of inner roads in Constituency II. Among these roads are Offin-Oreta and Offin-Lajo axis roads.

Obadan also added that, “Youths should be empowered or engaged by making recommendations to government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to absorb qualified constituents and also attract corporate presence and investments to Ikorodu by lobbying, as an oversight function, and negotiate incentives for the Constituencies from these companies.

“Congratulations to all! It was an election well contested in conviviality and victory well deserved. Let us all roll up our sleeves. The work has just commenced. A new victory springs up new challenges. The prize for hardwork is more work”!

“Let your visibility express your capability by leaving an indelible mark in the sand of times. Life is a continuous struggle. Aluta continua!!!”,  he charged the representatives”.

Another resident, Matti Olatunde, while also congratulating  Hon. Agunbiade, enjoined him to ensure that everyone is carried along in his representation.

“Congratulations, you have solicited for our votes and we have given you our mandate to lead Ikorodu again…… Pls, kindly negotiate what will benefit everyone in Ikorodu and not only for your party members  because it’s not only their votes  that won the election for you. My take……our roads needs rehabilitation…….. All the inner roads in Ikorodu are in bad shape……..

Congratulations to you all. The good people of Ikorodu have shown that they love APC and I hope all our Representatives will reciprocate this good gesture by being good Ambassadors of Ikorodu. God bless Ikorodu, God bless Lagos State”.

Also contributing, Jimoh Hamzat challenged the newly re-elected legislators not to take their vctory for granted.

“To Hon. S. O. B. Agunbiade and Hon N. S. Solaja, congratulations. Don’t take this victory for granted. Do more for Ikorodu”.
