-As PDP candidate congratulates winner
Residents in Ikorodu have lauded Mr Mukaila Abiola Jagun-Lamina, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ikorodu Constituency I State Assembly seat in the just concluded State Assembly election, for his courage and display of spirit of sportsmanship in accepting the result of the poll.
Lamina polled 11, 458 votes to lose to Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate who scored 23, 488 votes to emerge winner in the March 9 election.
In a release signed by himself, Lamina stated that the fate of who would represent the people of Ikorodu Constituency has been decided at the poll.
He described the APC candidate as a “worthy opponent” while congratulating him for his success at the poll.
“It can never be more appropriate than now to say that everything that has a beginning must surely has an end.
“The fate of this journey that started few months ago with you has now been decided via your ballots.
“We started this great movement knowing that it will be a great test to our resoluteness and tenacity as a people determined to bring about real progress in our community, hence, our resolve to challenge the incumbent.
“Your interest in how you are governed is commendable, this explains your constructive criticism during electioneering and indeed the eventual exercise of your franchise yesterday (Saturday, March 9) on who should represent the interest of the people of Ikorodu Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
“I must confess that I am indeed humbled by the massive support I have enjoyed so far from you, the good people of Ikorodu, given the fact that this election represented a litmus test for my participation in the mainstream politics.
“To every contest, there’s a winner. This is why I want to congratulate our own Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade for his triumph at the poll to represent our great constituency again. I must say that he is a worthy opponent.
“To members of my immediate family who, due to my ambition, were denied the attention they required from me, I say thank you for your endurance and for giving me reasons that kept me going.
“To our good people of Ikorodu, who supported our campaign against all odds, I can’t thank you enough for believing in me and my proposed vision to take Ikorodu to greater heights.
“The campaign experience, for me, was quite emotional as I saw the keen desire in our people to change the fortune of our beloved constituency despite running a low-budget campaign”.
While appreciating God for the contest, Lamina also thanked his campaign team.
He described the electorate as the real winners of the contest while also assuring that he would continue to be part of the effort to develop Ikorodu.
“To the entire Ikorodu people , I say you are all winners of Democracy as you have expressed your power to elect your representatives.
“Let me assure you that I won’t stop talking Ikorodu and contributing my measure to its development”.
