Elderly voters who came out to vote during the Governorship and State Assembly elections in Ikorodu have stated that they did so for the future of their children and development of their community.
Unlike the youths, the senior citizens came out early to exercise their franchise during today’s (Saturday, March 9, 2019) elections at different polling units as they joined thousands of others across Lagos State in electing those that would manage the affairs of the state in the next four years.
Speaking with THE IMPACT, a 65 years old woman, Mrs Funke Alokolaro, stated that her decision to vote was borne out of her passion to join others in bringing about development to the society.
“I Have exercise my voting right so as to join others in voting for the right person and bringing about development to our community.”
She stated that she has been exercising her voting right since the days of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Another elderly voter, 74 years old Otunba Kingsley Kayode Kalejaiye, a 74 years old retired Major, in his own remarks, stated that he came out to vote in order to exercise his civic right.
“I am out here to exercise my civic right and vote for the right person that would help us in moving our state forward.”
Mr Debo Jimoh, a 77 years old man, in his own reaction, stated that he was voting for the future of his children.
“I am voting for the future of my children. It is my duty to help them secure a prosperous future. ”
