The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ikorodu Constituency I seat, Hon. Sanai Oyeniran Agunbiade , in the State Assembly election held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, has stated the best candidates should win the Gubernatorial and the State Assembly elections.
He made this statement while speaking with THE IMPACT after casting his vote at his polling unit 043 located at Aga/Ijomu Ward opposite Bible College, Oke Ota-Ona, Ikorodu.
“My expectation, by the grace of God, is that the best candidate who the people want; who the people know and who has been doing well and who the people are satisfied with due to his proven integrity performance and interest in the welfare of the people should win and the party that has been performing creditably well and preferred by the people should carry the day.”
He commended the electoral officials and voters for following the process in the conduct of the election in Ikorodu.
“The electoral officers followed the rules to the latter. You can see that by this hour of the day, the ballot boxes are almost full and people are still coming. You don’t see many people on the queue because electoral officials are following the rules that asked them to allow voters cast their votes as soon as they are accredited.
“It is an improvement on the last elections. It is very peaceful, orderly and electorate are voting their choices through the ballot.
“The election is peaceful in Ikorodu because we now realise that the number of votes that we cast is our strength and bargaining power. We canvased that during our campaign by encouraging people to cast their votes peacefully.
“There is no point in fighting over election and there is no office that worth a drop of human blood. That, we have inculcated in our people and all our kabiyesis, political leaders and other stakeholders have also canvased that.
“Everything will be peaceful at the end of the day because God is firmly in control in Ikorodu division and in Lagos State”, he assured.
