Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba is the Vice Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government and prominent figure in the electoral campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu . She spoke with THE IMPACT on the health programme sponsored by Mr Sanwo-Olu campaign team in Ikorodu, reconciliation efforts of the party and her expectations for the forthcoming elections. Excerpts:
IMPACT: What’s your view about this medical mission for the residents of Ikorodu Division being sponsored by the governorship candidate of your party?
Princess Oba: What the programme is all about is an extension of our heart to say we love the people of Ikorodu in that culture of excellence and that they can count on us. The medical care is covering screening and treatment for eyes and other ailments and issuing of medications to patients to tell people that they can always count on our party. I am now using this medium to beg the people of Ikorodu to come out en masse on Saturday and cast their votes for our great party (APC) and make sure that the exercise remain peaceful. They should vote wisely but definitely hoping that their choice will be our party.
IMPACT: What can you say about the low turnout for the Presidential and National Assembly elections and what is your party doing to mobilise for the next election?
Princess Oba: Definitely, the next election is going to be a lot better. A lot of things happened which affected the last elections but still, the number recorded in Ikorodu division is still better compare to other parts of the state and that is just to tell you that in Ikorodu, we are dedicated to the course of progressive and our party. I’m pleading that the party should not forget the good gesture of our party after the election. Our people are going to vote massively for the governorship and Assembly candidates of our party in Constituency I and II.
IMPACT- There are allegations that some members of your party are still engaging in anti-party activities despite reconciliation. Don’t you think that this may affect your party’s chances at the poll and what is your party doing to address this before the coming election?
Princess Oba: Well, for somebody like me, I believe that we cannot go forward looking back. Where we are now is that the party has done necessary reconciliation and I believe that we are now one big family and it’s going to get a lot better. APC is one now.
IMPACT: What are your expectations in the coming election?
Princess Oba: I expect people to come out en masse and exercise their choice in favour of our governoship and Assembly candidates. I want them to be peaceful in their conduct and occupy their space and vote wisely but they should make sure that their votes is for APC. They can always count on us.
