– ADP Guber Candidate
One of the governorship candidates in Lagos State has hinted at a coalition among the opposition parties in the state against the candidate of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), in the March 9 Governorship election .
The African Democratic Party (ADP), Governorship candidate, Mr Babatunde Olalere Gbadmosi, disclosed that his party is in talk with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition to for a possible coalition while speaking in Ikorodu on of, March 4, during the flag-off ceremony of his campaign.
In his statement, Gbadamosi, while admitting that his party cannot achieve success alone at the poll, hinted at a possible coalition arrangement with PDP and other opposition parties.
“It is time for freedom but my party or me cannot do it alone because challenges confronting Lagos are enormous. It will be impossible for us to attempt to do it alone.
“We just have about seven days to work to free ourselves from the shackle and gain our desire future. We need to sacrifice our now for the future .
“Other parties are now coming to talk to us and you are going to hear our resolution from me very soon. I can assure you that whatever you hear from me and my party chairman is the authentic information.
“If those that have been in the opposition and working towards freeing Lagos are now talking with us, you must understand that we are major players and that they recognize our impact on the polity.
“Very soon, you shall hear announcement concerning our meeting.
“We don’t want to be referred to as somebody that once ran for the governorship position, this is why we are asking our people to ‘carry their brains’ (use your brain while voting).
“We have been taking with other opposition parties and we have arrived at a conclusion and the resolve will favour the people, the opposition, myself, those that we are dislodging and everybody in Lagos State”.
He called on ADP members to start talking to PDP members which he hinted his party leadership in talk with.
“Election is just few days away and I need you to start talking and working with PDP members. They are our friends and people. We are not at war with them to secure our future.
“I am asking all our ADP members to start reaching out to the PDP members in respect of the coming governorship elections because the narrative is changing.
“Politics in Lagos is about to change. The Lagos politics is taking a different dimension. We need to start talking the truth to ourselves regarding where we are going.
“We know what we want to do. We are not going against the principles. Likewise, there are some members of PDP that are also committed to the struggle and they have seen those among them that are sellout.
“It was on that basis that they beckoned on us for cooperation in liberating Lagos so as to achieve what we have been pursuing.
“Another opportunity is presenting itself to us to redeem ourselves in Lagos and opportunity once lost may not represent itself but in our case, the opportunity has presented itself to us on three different occasions which we have failed to take.
“Another opportunity is presenting itself for us to open everlasting door of joy and happiness. This is the kind of opportunity that we need to win election”.
