The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ikorodu Constituency I State Assembly seat, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, has charged NTAB football club to play as a team in the final match of the Sanwo-Olu Cup slated for March 3.
The lawmaker, who was a former footballer, gave the encouragement on Thursday, at his Constituency Office in Ikorodu when the players were presented to him.
‘I want to commend you for your efforts so far. That you are in the final shows that you are determined to win the championship.
“Football is a team game even though it also allows for individual brilliance but the ultimate thing in football is to play as a team. And in a team, nobody takes the glory because it has to be shared among the team.
“Once again, I want to commend and congratulate you for going far in a tournament that involves other teams.
“I have no doubt in your ability to lift the trophy. We shall celebrate together”, he said while wishing the team well.
NTAB FC, which is owned by Alhaji Idris Aromasodun, played five matches on their way to the final scheduled to hold at the Police Barracks Playing Ground in Ikorodu on Sunday, March 3, 2019.
The Ikorodu team lost their first match away to Ayomiposi FC 2-1 but defeated Leo FC 2 goals to nil at home.
The team drew 1 -1 with AC Warriors in their third match to book a quarter final ticket where they defeated Kadesh FC 3 – 0 to qualify for the semi-final stage.
In their semi- final match on Monday, February 11, the team played 1-1 draw with Ultimate Villa FC at the regulation time and went ahead to win the penalty shootouts by 4-2.
NTAB FC will be playing in the final match against Teslim Balogun FC while the third place match is against the Ultimate Villa FC and Sharon FC at the Police Barracks Playing Ground in Ikorodu, on Sunday, March 3, 2019.
16 teams across the six Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Ikorodu division had entered for the championship which is being organized by the Ikorodu Division Football Association (IDFA) under the leadership of Alhaji Luqman Shonibare.
