The empowerment initiative of the APC-led Federal Government has continued to spread as 100 women in Ikorodu division on Sunday, February 10, 2019, benefitted from the scheme courtesy of the Chairman, Diaspora Commission and former representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
The presentation ceremony of the loan, which was held at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat hall, was tagged, “Disbursement Of Micro Entreprise Enhancement Loan”, and was organized by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
“We have 100 women that are benefitting today among them are widows and others. President Buhari’s message to you is that henceforth, your life will continue to get better.
“For the women present here today, the essence is that you must be empowered. You must continue to do your job through the National Directorate of Employment (NDE). This is just the beginning of better things to come when President Buhari is re-elected.
While stating that the programme would be a continuous thing, Hon. Erewa also added that the beneficiaries would also be trained by the NDE in skills like cosmetology.
She highlighted some of the efforts of President Buhari in creating employment, empowering people and fighting corruption.
“President Buhari is trying to address a situation where the poor is getting poorer and the rich is getting richer. This is why the government initiated Tradermoni so that people can have access to loan to boost their businesses.
“There is N-Power which created employment opportunity for youths even though the money is not much.
“The Buhari-led government is also providing a meal daily for pupils across the country.
“Most importantly, the President is fighting corruption and insisting on sending those that are corruptly enriching themselves to jail. Public money is meant for all Nigerians and not to be stolen by few individuals.
“The President that is returning is a trustworthy person and corrupt-free. He is returning all monies that are being recovered from the corrupt individuals to the Federation account for the use of everyone.
“He is now using the money to provide infrastructures. The government just launched railway from Lagos to Abeokuta and in no time, we are going to be boarding train from Lagos to Abuja and Kano and other places.
“Under President Buhari, things are really getting better and they can only get better”.
She appealed to the beneficiaries to vote for the President’s re-election for the sustenance of his good work.
“I appeal to you to troop out on Saturday, February 16 and vote for President Buhari and all other APC candidates.
“Please, don’t sit at home. Make sure that you use your second finger to thump print for APC. This is not about politics, rather, it’s about forward movement of our country. You must ensure that those corrupt politicians are not returned back to power.
The State Coordinator, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mr Adebowale Ologbenla, stated that the initiative was meant to empower women.
“This is truly an empowerment initiative to assist women.
“This is being facilitated by Hon. Erewa for women in Ikorodu division because of her love for the town and we are going to ensure that the loan is given to the people to enable them improve their businesses.
Ologbenla also stated that the beneficiaries would be entitled to increased loan upon repayment.
“This is a loan without interest. When you pay back, you would be entitled to get improved loan”, he told the beneficiaries”.
He stated that the beneficiaries of the loan will be trained in various skills and provided with necessary assistance after training.
“We are going to train you in various forms of skills like cosmetology, soap making and air freshner making among others. There are materials to be given to you after the training.
