Coordinators of the re-election campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Friday (today) led hundreds of party members in a march across major streets in Ikorodu to canvass for supports for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate in the election slated for February 16.
Participants in the march defied the heavy downpour in the early hours of the day as they gathered at Sabo, the take off point for the march, as early as 7.00am.
They marched through Sabo road to connect Ikorodu Garage roundabout, Ayangbure road, Ojogbe, Oriwu road, Ita-Elewa, Obun-Ale, Ireshe and finally berthed at the Ikorodu Local Government Open Ground opposite Post Office, Ikorodu.
Yeye Asiwaju Bolanle Basorun, former Sole Administrator, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Coordinator, PMB 2019, in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, while speaking with THE IMPACT, stated that the march was aimed at creating awareness for the re-election campaign of President Buhari.
She called on the electorate to vote for the President next Saturday because of the good work she said he is doing.
“It’s all about our President, President Muhammadu Buhari. We want people to be aware that we are re-electing him and that they must vote for him come next Saturday when we shall be trooping out for the Presidential election across the country. We want them to vote for continuity of good governance, that’s why we are moving round the major streets in Ikorodu to create the awareness for his reelection.
“Our party is going to win in all the elective positions because Buhari has done a lot for Nigeria and people are rooting for him and he’s still going to do more. He has developed our rail system, light, our economy, agriculture and transportation among many other things”.
Coordinator, PMB 2019, in Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaja Olufunmi Osinowo Basorun, also stated that they are using the march to mobilise support for the re-election of the President and his Vice.
“It’s about creating awareness and soliciting for votes for our President, President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Pro. Yemi Osinbajo, and the rest of the APC candidates.
“We are very sure that electorate will turnout and vote en mass for our candidates because of the rate of the work that we have done. Our achievements will speak for us and that is why we want the progress to continue by voting APC back to power at all levels. Our President has been able to touch all the six geo-political zones in the country meaningfully. People can feel the impact of democracy under his administration”.
Alhaja Basorun stated that the party has mobilized the populace and and that there is assurance that all the APC candidates would emerge victorious in the coming elections.
“We started our mobilization from educating people to get themselves registered for the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) and now, we are mobilizing them to collect their voter’s cards from the INEC offices so that they can turnout en mass to vote for APC.
She added that the party is targeting a minimum of 250, 000 votes in Ikorodu.
Mr Fatai Adesina Jaiyeola, Secretary to the Ikorodu West LCDA and the Coordinator of PMB 2019 in Ikorodu North, while also reacting, stated that :
“We are doing awareness for Mr President and his Vice because we are sure of his performance and we want him to continue with what he is doing.
“We have mobilizing people for the election. We are really prepared and ready”.
