Tonight isn’t to ponder but a moment to reflect on Hon. Babajimi Benson’s Campaign promises and delivery in the last 4 years as the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency. No doubt Ikorodu is one if not the largest constituency in the country with over 3 million Population.
I carefully understudy him and I can conveniently link his Leadership trait to a Progressive Afenifere whose strides is people-oriented. He is passionate about his constituents hence the reason why his score cards is tipped as topnotch.
I remember it was like a nightmare when he storm the Ikorodu political space with the ‘WHO is JB’ Campaign, no one see any seriousness in him. The days when the people’s hope seems dashed and our Politics seems stagnant with no direction. A time when we are ‘Ogas’ is a bragging right. A time when political innovation is the clamour of our people.
Some refered to him as ‘Tekobo’ and some a novice who doesn’t understand governance and politics but guess what the rest is history today. He took the criticism as his strengths before winning the party ticket with massive tips to what should be expected when given the mandate. I am aware of the Ajina Market toilet construction, Itunmoja Canal rail, Opening and grading link roads, Facilitate the donation of Table and Chairs to schools courtesy MTN foundation, Donation of generator set to Ikorodu General hospital and a Micro Loan to Traders, at least I remember this few before he was trusted with the mandate under the All Progressives Congress (APC)
At some point, we thought all this aforementioned Projects were what will be presented after four years as score cards but to our surprise it’s just a tip of an Iceberg.
In the history of our Constituency, the Youths were engaged to embrace the StartUp World. An initiative, were young Citizens were trained on different set of skills and later were mentored and tutored at an Incubator Class for 6 months. The Apo-Anu was first of it kind in the country, truly, no one deserve to go to bed with empty stomach. Like that wasn’t enough, Honorable Babajimi Benson in his first year embarked on renovation of Schools across the division and later constructed blocks of Classrooms at least I am aware of Four at Maya, Imota, Ijede and Ibeshe.
Are you aware of Prince Ogunleye ICT centre facilitated by the numerouno and the donation of over 3 transformers to Communities in the division?
As a Legislator, his role can’t be undermined as he seats on Committees as a member and a chairman. He has the good Samaritan bill and other motions to his scorecard.
His relentless efforts to see things work across the division lead to bringing in Catalyst to train public office holders at the grassroot which for me is a Fantastic big picture foreseen by the people’s General.
As he flagsoff his re-election bid tomorrow, I am using this medium onbehalf of our people to thank him for delivering beyond expectations and assure him the good people of Ikorodu division will vote massively for him at least as a way to say ‘Thank you’ at the Poll.
To all aspiring minds willing to lead their constituency someday, please learn and take a clue from Honourable Babajimi Benson giant strides and remember everything of Value is earned.
