Mr Oyenuga Aro Moshood Abiodun popularly called, ‘AMA’ is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly in Ikorodu Constituency II in the forthcoming General Elections in 2019. He spoke with Kunle ADELABU, Chief Report/Publisher, IMPACT NEWSPAPER, briefly during the flag-off of his campaign where he pulled an unprecedented crowd of supporters who had come out en masse to listen to him speak about his agenda, how he plans to win the forthcoming election and his declaration that he is ready to engage the incumbent in a political debate.
Excerpts:
IMPACT: What does this large turnout of people portend for your political career?
Mr Oyenuga: I appreciate God for taking me this far. The crowd here is beyond my imagination. You can see the turnout by yourself as a reporter that it is huge. My campaign actually started about six months ago. So, what you are seeing today is the result of our internal engagements since six months ago.
IMPACT: Considering the fact that the incumbent occupant of the position that you are vying for is from Imota and also that the ruling party which he belongs to has been in power since the inception of this political dispensation in 1999, how do you intend to wrestle power from him?
Mr Oyenuga: It’s not about wrestling power but about what you have been able to do for your community and how the people perceived you. I am also an indigene of Imota like the incumbent and the difference is clear between us. It’s about what he has been able to achieve in the last 3 and half years that he has been in that position. You can see what I have been able to do in the community since I started my campaign six months ago. I challenged you, the media houses, to organize a debate for us where we will both articulate and tell the people our respective agendas and what we have been able to do for the people so far.
IMPACT: You were on stage to entertain the crowd with good gospel and juju music. Are you also a musician and if yes, what is your agenda for entertainment if elected as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly?
Mr Oyenuga: Music is part of me as a person. I am a musician and a footballer. I love music very well. We have music and sports generally as part of our agendas. These are avenues through which we can assist many talented young men and women in our communities to enable them to attain greatness.
