-Honours Prince Ogunleye, Rt. Revd. Ajayi, other eminent individuals as honourary officers
The Youth Christian Association (YCA) of The African Church Bethel Cathedral, Ikorodu, on Sunday, November 25, 2018, celebrated its 38th anniversary with special thanksgiving service.
Eminent Church members were also inducted as honourary officers of the association during the special service that took place at The African Church Bethel Cathedral, Aga, Ikorodu.
A Chartered Account and well-respected personality, Prince Sunday Olabode Ogunleye, topped the list of the honourary officers honoured and decorated in commemoration of the association’s anniversary.
Prince Ogunleye was decorated as the Grand Commander of the Order of YCA (GCOY) of The African Church Bethel Cathedral, Ikorodu.
Also, Engr. Olukayode Anibaba and Engr. Afolabi Dixon were honoured with Grand Patrons (GPY), while Chief (Mrs) C.A. Ogunwomoju, JPil, Chief (Mrs) Olajumoke Abike Laleye and Mrs Abosede Lambo – Abisuga, JPil were decorated as Grand Patroness (GPY).
While the Bishop of Lagos West Missionary Diocese, The Rt. Revd. Akinola Ajayi, FCE, was honoured with the position of the Holy Order (HOY), Bishop Taiwo Obateru, Ven. Taiwo A. Ologun, Ven. ‘Tope Odunlami and Ven. Kayode Ilaju-Williams were decorated as the Spiritual Father (SFY), Holy Order (HOY), Ecumenical Vicar (EVY) and Chaplain (CYC) respectively.
The President of the Ikorodu Chapter of the association, Mr Olusegun Iluyombo, Jpil, in his speech, thanked the Bishop, chieftains of the Church and the entire Congregation for their supports.
He also announced the legal status recently accorded the branch as a charter by the national body of the association.
“I appreciate the Bishop, the Rt. Revd. Akinola Ajayi, FCE, Trustees, and members of the Cathedral Council of the Church for the opportunity given us to celebrate this three in one event, namely: Legal Status (Chartering of the Association), 38 years anniversary and the Investiture of men and women of honour and integrity as pillars and backers of the association. This is absolutely momentous in the history of the association”.
“Our special gratitude is expressed to the President, Trustees and the Executive team at the national level for considering our chapter worthy to become the 6th branch of YCA to become chartered among other chapters throughout the nation” , he acknowledged.
He also acknowledged the support of eminent individuals that were decorated as honourary officers of the association.
“I would also like to offer my warmest congratulations to our appointed and elevated Honourary Members for being decorated before the Alter. Of unique importance is the recognition of our long-standing members who are being recognized with Christian Chieftaincy Titles in honour of their good deeds and dedication to the association.
“I, therefore, implore them not to relent on rendering adequate supports to the association, the effect of which would further uplift God’s work in the Church” , he charged the newly decorated individuals and officers.
Also decorated was Chief (Mrs) Elizabeth Idowu, who was honoured as Yeye Fuwagbuyi (YFY), and the trio of Chief O.O. Ilubanwo, Jpil, Prince Adekunle A. Ogunleye and Dr Ademuyiwa Eniayewun who were honoured as Patrons (PYC).
Other honourees were Elder A.O.O. Leduwe as Asiwaju (AYC), Elder Timothy A.O. Okeowo, Jpil., Doyen (Baba Egbe YCA) (DYC), Mr Michael Liyele, as the Olumoran (Man of great understanding and good counsel) (OYC), Snr. ABG. Adeyinka O. Oyejola, as Agbaakin (AAY), Mr Mathew O. Oyejola, as Majeoba Okunrin (MYC), Bro. Olalere A. Olukoga, Jpil., Baba Isale (BIYC) and Revd. Peter O. Oga (Rtd.) as Baba Egbe Afadurajagun (BAY)
Others were Comrade Kehinde O. Okeowo, Jpil., as the Matriarch of YCA (MYC), Mrs Yemisi Kuti as Iya Egbe (IYC), Mrs Victoria Omolaja as Iyalode (IYC), Mrs M.O. Liyele as Alatileyin (AYC), Mrs Bolajoko Sobowale as Majeobaje Obinrin (MYC) and Mrs Esther Leduwe as Iya Isale (IYC)
The General Secretary of the association, Mr Seyi Adelabu, was also conferred with a Meritorious award during the special service.
