The representative of Ikorodu Constituency I and the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade and his counterpart in Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Saka Nurudeen Solaja, have secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) tickets to contest for the Assembly seats of their respective constituencies in 2019 general elections.
The two are parts of the 40-member list of successful aspirants that participated in the APC primary election held on Friday, October 5, 2018.
The final list which was released on Tuesday, THE IMPACT gathered, has been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to beat the October 7 deadline for the submission of parties’ candidates for the 2019 General Elections.
THE IMPACT had reported that the two lawmakers won the primary election with Hon. Agunbiade securing 15, 463 votes.
Agunbiade, with this result, would be seeking the mandate of the general electorate for the fourth term in 2019.
He has been at the Assembly since 2003, while Solaja would be contesting in the general elections for the second term.
According to the result signed by Barr. Williams Kunle Stone, the Returning Officer for Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Agunbiade polled 15, 463 votes to beat his closest opponent, Mr Toyin Gafaar Bolwotan who polled 2,674 votes.
Mr Nurudeen Agbaje came third with 1, 465 votes followed by the former two-term chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Adeola Jokomba with 707 votes.
Other aspirants were Barr Lekan Ijelu and Mr Yinka Majekodunmi both of whom polled 376 and 315 votes respectively.
Meanwhile, Barr Ijelu has stated that he pulled out of the primary election due to a directive that came from some party leaders that he should step down for another aspirant
Hon. Solaja, who was unopposed as his sole challenger, Hon. Sedan Akeju, stepped down few days to the primary elected, polled 11,899 votes.
According to the report signed by the Returning Officer for Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Agunbiade polled 2, 551 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bolowotan who polled 107 votes at Isele II centre.
In Isele III, Agunbiade polled 1, 253 votes to beat Bolowotan who scored 78 votes.
In Ipakodo centre, Hon. Agunbiade got 6,002 votes while Bolowotan polled 1,003 votes.
In Agura centre, Hon. Agunbiade and Bolowotan recorded 322 and 76 votes respectively.
The results from Isiu revealed that Agunbiade scored 894 votes while Bolowotan scored 53 votes.
At Aga/Ijomu, Hon. Agunbiade polled 3, 045 votes to Bolowotan’s 1,030 votes.
In Odogunyan, it was Hon Agunbiade who won with 433 votes while Bolowotan polled 174 votes.
Hon. Agunbiade also won at Erikorodo centre with 250 votes while Bolowotan got 21 votes.
Meanwhile, no result was recorded for all the aspirants in Isele I.
