Mr Mutairu Bidemi Balogun, an aspirant for the Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I seat at the Lagos State House of Assembly and a former Head of the Mass Communication department, Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu Main Campus, has sought the supports of his constituents to emerge as the flag bearer of the All Progresives Congress (APC) in the October 4 primary election.
An Alumnus of Anwar-ul-Islam College, Agege and the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lagos, where he bagged Bachelor of Science (B.sc.) and Masters (Msc. Mass Comm), has also presented his agenda for his people.
Aside the primary legislative function which is lawmaking, Balogun also pledged that his representation would focus on five other main areas among which are youth development and establishment of Ifako-Ijaiye Educational Trust Fund.
“Apart from the primary core legislative functions and other oversight duties, I will focus on five other areas.
While speaking on his agenda, Hon. Balogun stated:
‘I shall focus on developing the youths in my constituency. These are young men who are crucial to the development of the community, hence they need adequate support and guidance.
“The Trust Fund will be structured like the Lagos State Security Trust Fund. It shall be under the administration of a board of governors selected specifically to aid educational development, improvement and growth.
“The Trust Fund will be administered under four (4) components, namely: Bursary award, Scholarship, Capacity Building and Infrastructure”, he reaveled.
Stating his vision for his constituency, he stated:
“I seeks a new and fresh beginning anchored on a vision of inclusiveness, empowerment, equity, equality, fairness and justice to promote economic growth, equal job opportunity and people centred development alligned with infrastructural renewal”.
He appealed to the leaders and party members to give him the maximum supports at the primary election and beyond.
“I humbly appeal, seek and request for your unwavering support at the party primary and general elections as the next Representative of Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 01, 2019 in the Lagos State House of Assembly”.
Hon Balogun was a former Zonal Chairman, Ward Secretary, Youth Leader and LG delegate while his political sojourn cutting across many political parties such as Liberal Convention, NRC, UNCP, AD, AC, ACN, APC.
He had aspired twice for the coveted position in 2011 and 2015 general elections.
As a mentor and motivator, he has helped many youths to find their direction in life by helping them to facilitate admission into higher institutions, trade, vocational training and skill acquisition.
He has supported many community projects, both in cash, kind and material wise like Culverts and drainages, security issues, electricity matter, social and welfare cases as well as health and sanitation.
Hon Balogun also ensured the participation of Ifako-Ijaiye local government in the Fadama II and III World Bank Project.
“As the Communication Officer of the award winning World bank project –FADAMA, I helped Ifako-Ijaiye farmers to access inputs, assets, infrastructures and capacity building. Many of the farmers cooperatives are existing till date” , he stated.
