Ikorodu Kingdom on Friday lost the leader of its local vigilance group, Onyabo, and foremost ‘Oro’ traditional singer, Chief Kamorudeen Adekunle Bombata.
The local security chief, THE IMPACT gathered succumbed to the cold hand of death today after a prolonged sickness.
Bombata, with other traditionalists in conjunction with members of the United Area Club (UAC), initiated the fearful Onyabo Vigilance group to tackle incidents of robbery, cultism and other vices that tormented Ikorodu some years back.
The group played a very prominent role in curtailing the excesses of cultists who laid siege in virtually all the six local councils in Ikorodu division, killing themselves and other innocent residents at will.
Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, the representative of Ikorodu Constituency I and the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, described the late community leader as a great son of Ikorodu
“A great son of Ikorodu with native intelligence and passion for his home town has gone to the great beyond
“May Our ancestors admit him to honour in heaven. May God grant his family the fortitude to bear the great loss and grant his soul, eternal rest for ever!
Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo commenting on THE IMPACT Newspaper’s whatssApp platform stated, “A gallant soldier. Rest in peace”
Barr. Adeboye Dankwo also commenting said, : What a great loss!! May your soul rest in peace, great soldier
Alhaji Olalekan Murisku, former Chairmanship aspirant in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area also described his death as a great loss
“Am in a mourning mood ,Ikorodu my pride town has been abruptly robbed of compendium of folklore by cold hands of death” Chief Afolabi Babatunde stated
“Rest amid U ancestors, worthy community SOLDIER!” said Agboola Odesanya
Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS) announcing the death of Bombata stated on its Facebook wall: “korodu has lost a gem. RIP baba Bombata!”
“My dear Ikorodu lost a Community Soldier and foremost traditional Songbird to dine with his Ancestors” Olalekan Biliamin Oba also wrote on his Facebook wall
“Chief Bombata lived a good life, he fought gallantly for Ikorodu. He lost sleeps so that we can sleep. Finally he has gone to rest” said Jimoh Hamzat
