Prince Lanre Sanusi on Tuesday,September 25,2018, declared his interest to represent the people of Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019.
He also made a public presentation of his legislative agenda and also sought for the support of the party leaders and members in voting for him at the primary election slated for October 3.
The leadership and members of the party in the Federal Constituency, at the programme which held at the Tasty Fried Chicken hall, 22 Road, FESTAC Town,Lagos, also adopted the aspirant as their candidate and promised to support him.
Prince Sanusi’s aspiration was endorsed by the apex leadership of the party at Amuwo-Odofin and Oriade Local Government Areas (LGAs), Lagos West and East Senatorial Women Leaders, Ward Chairmen, youth leaders, LGA officers among others.
Declaring his intention, Prince Sanusi stated:
“Sequel to the release of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable for the 2019 general elections, I wish to formally notify you of my intention to contest the position of House of Representatives, Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency of Lagos State, under the auspices of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forth coming general elections.
“I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed on me and mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors.
“The decision to present myself as an aspirant for scrutiny by our great party is premised on my possession of all the basic skills, qualifications, expertise and leadership qualities required to contest for the House of Representatives in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency.
“I am of the believe that good political leadership involves getting the big decision right; however difficult, however controversial, however potentially divisive and then being able to take people with you. And that requires something else as well – being wise enough to know when it’s time to listen.
The aspirant, who traced his root to the royal houses in Amuwo-Odofin, Epetedo in Lagos Island, Ikorodu and Egbin in Ikorodu Division, stated that “an investment in him is a guaranteed rewarding future for Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency”.
“Having consistently displayed great strength of character, I possess the capacity to stand for what is right and honorable for Nigeria no matter the diversion /distraction of external influences; because, with a good knowledge of Nigeria’s socio-political, economic and public sector environment, I have the ability to comprehend and grapple with complex national and international issues.
“Over the years, I have demonstrated keen understanding of the need to be transparent in governance and the evidence of this is in my transparent business dealings in the past, both on public or private enterprise chain, locally and globally.This attributes have distinguished me.
“As a patriotic Nigerian, I have an enviable record of commitment to the Nigerian State; a proof of standing up for Nigeria in the face of sectional or regional challenge. I am an incontrovertible Nigerian citizen with a passion for national interest.
Prince Sanusi, who stated that there is work to be done, added that the state of the constituency’s economy calls for action not only to create new frontiers, but to lay a new foundation for growth.
Revealing his plans to the people, the aspirant stated:
“The opportunity to serve when accorded to me by the good people of Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency will enable me to focus my forte on Four Broad Legislative Actions which are inter alia: Poverty Reduction, Employment Generation, Infrastructural Development and Value Reorientation.
“ I am a great positive minded professional with global business and management expertise who do not worry about failures but worry about chances I have missed when I don’t even try because positive thoughts generate positive feelings and attract positive life experiences, particularly because our greatest glory in Amuwo Odofin is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.
The aspirant stated that he would deploy his expertise as a Tax Regulation Consultant and Business Strategist with speciality in auditing analysis and reporting in tackling challenges facing his constituency.
The Federal House of Representatives aspirant pledged that, if elected, he would “provide and present legislative services by introducing robust bills that would usher in shared prosperity , economic abundance and social cohesion in Amuwo Odofin federal constituency”.
He also pledged to “deliver exemplary legislative services that are accountable, realistic, responsive and responsible to Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency community priorities, thereby ensuring a healthy and sustainable constituency which will drive towards our shared vision for a better future for Nigeria”.
He added that he would work with the party leaders and in consonance with the tenets of his party’s manifestoes.
“My socio-political and economic vision is to work in concert with our party leaders and on the platform of our manifesto to revive the ailing economy, create sustainable employment, provide affordable and accessible healthcare, strengthen our public education system, define a path to energy independence for Nigeria and tackle the problem of housing and infrastructural development.
“We aim to engage Nigerians towards participating in their civic and social-political responsibilities.
He also pledged to “engender transformational leadership through citizens engagement which will in-turn add substantial values to people’s lives as well as improved service delivery; to reposition Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency in its rightful place amongst the committee of LGA’s in Lagos State.
“To draw the needed attention of the Federal Government to the effective maintenance and management of all Federal Government Institutions/Agencies in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency towards the benefit of its indigenous communities.
“Uphold the socio-political and economic rights of Awori land.The women, widows, youths and the indigent shall also be included in all our planned projections.
“Work hand-in-hand consultatively with the traditional institutions and the Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Development Associations (CDAs) towards achieving a common developmental strategy.
“I shall report conflict of interest situations to Stakeholders with proof of introducing and implementing clear-cut conflict of interest solutions.
“Sponsor, support and lobby the National Assembly towards making constructive legislations to the attainment of the socio-political and economic aspiration of Nigerians.
While thanking the party leaders and members for their supports so far, Prince Sanusi stated:
“You have reposed so much confidence in me, I am indeed happy about your presence at this epoch event. I owe you so much for believing in me and to have jointly sailed me up to this stage, I wish to reiterate that I have the inclinations and capacity to respect rules and implement same as appropriate. I promise to continually respect, honour and seek your advice and experience always.
Mr Moshood Olanrewaju Badmus, the Director-General of Prince Lanre Sanusi House of Representatives Campaign, who traced the genesis of the problems that made the party lose the Federal House of Representatives seat to the opposition in the 2015 general elections, said that the party has resolved to back the candidacy of Prince Sanusi.
Prince Sekoni Adio, the Apex leader, APC Amuwo-Odofin and Oriade LGAs, stated that Prince Sanusi is a bridge-builder who is capable of harmonizing various interests in the Federal Constituency.
He enjoined party men and women to support and vote for him in the coming primary election and beyond.
Alhaja Memunat Ajao, another Apex Leader in the Federal Constituency, stated that the aspirant has been endorsed by the joint leadership of the party in the two LGAs that made up of the Federal constituency.
