Kunle ADELABU
Former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Local Government Area, Alhaji Rilwan Ishola Jinadu and the Inaugural Chairman, Ikorodu North Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Kunle Ogunbela, has described the actions of some political leaders as unfair to some of the aspirants contesting for the Ikorodu Constituency I seat at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
They described the situation where some leaders of the party are meeting with seven of the nine aspirants and leaving out the other two as unjust and unfair.
They spoke against the action during the public declaration of Mr Olayinka Majekodun for the Ikorodu Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Alhaji Rilwan Jinadu described the other two aspirants as the people’s choice that cannot be manipulated by some leaders while also describing the leaders’ action as capable of destabilizing the party.
“There are only two aspirants for the Ikorodu Constituency I Assembly seat that are most capable and they are the people’s choice . These two aspirants can represent us very well. They have what it takes but cannot dance to the tune of some leaders which was why they called other seven aspirants to a meeting without inviting the two. Those that they called are surrogates that are going to work for those so called leaders and not the people.
“They want to send them to occupy a position for their selfish end and not for the people.
“The two capable aspirants are Hon. SOB Agunbiade and Yinka Majekodunmi”, he revealed.
“Some people have gathered themselves and are referring to themselves as party leaders, but they are actually not. They have been meeting with the other seven aspirants with the purpose of imposing one of them on the rest.
“But they left out Hon. Agunbiade and Majekodunmi because they have realized that they cannot manipulate them and they are not desperate for their supports but that of the masses. These are the two aspirants that would take care of the party people and the generality of the masses.
“These are the people that called themselves party elders but yet, they are not fair to all the aspirants. Their actions are capable of destabilizing the party.
“What they ought to have done is to call the nine aspirants to whatever meeting rather than leaving out two.
“By implication, the seven on the side of those so called leaders are for them. They are to serve their interests and not that of the people.
“But those two that they left out of the reckoning are the genuine people working for the party and also are on the side of the people”.
He challenged party members to vote for aspirant that they believe would work for their interest and not the interest of the few.
“The real politicians are suffering because most people in power are not truly working for the people. That is why party people must be very mindful of who they are going to pick as their candidates.
“We should cast our votes for those that would not give the benefits to their wives, girlfriends and family members and forget those in the party that work for their emergence.
He also stated that there is no crisis within the political leadership of the party in Ikorodu.
“There is no problem at all among the real political leaders in Ikorodu. We are acting according to the dictates from the state leadership when necessary and those that are not in tune with the realities would soon come to the realization and abide by the system”.
On the crisis rocking the ruling party regarding the challenges the incumbent governor of the state is facing in securing a second term, Alhaji Jinadu stated:
“There is no fight between Governor Ambode and the leadership of our party. The issue is that our leaders are considering a single term of office for any governor because there are so many capable hands that can steer the ship of the state.
“There is absolute no truth in the saying there is problem between our national leader and the governor of the state.
Prince Kunle Ogunbela, while also speaking, enjoined the aspirants not to allow what some leaders are doing to destabilize the party and cause violence.
“I want to appeal to you and other aspirants not to engage in violence. You should not allow what some leaders are doing to cause violence in the polity.
“It’s not fair that some leaders are meeting seven of the aspirants and left two out. Those leaders did same in Ikorodu North when they made an aspirant an anointed one against seven others.
