-Lagos Majority Leader, royal fathers, transport union chieftains grace celebration
The entire Agura community in Ikorodu Local Government was agog on Saturday 18, 2018, as the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ikorodu chapter, Otunba Waliu Daisi, celebrated his 50th birthday in grand style with the commissioning of a multi-million naira mosque which he built and donated to the community.
The birthday, which was celebrated amidst glitz and glamour, was witnessed by an impressive turnout of eminent dignitaries which included royal fathers, politicians, captains of industry, socialites and chieftains of transport unions as well as Otunba Daisi’s family members, friends and well wishers who were all looking radiance in their respective colourful attires.
The celebrant, who was recently honoured with the titled of Olu-Omo of Ikorodu Kingdom by His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Adegorushe V, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, while speaking at the occasion, stated that it was a great achievement to clock 50 year of age alive.
“This is a special and life-time opportunity for me to show the mightiness and awesomeness of God in my life. It’s an opportunity for me to thank Allah for attaining this age; for preserving my life in the faces of great odds and challenges.
“Attaining the golden age is not an easy feat, which is the more reason to be submissive, appreciative and thankful to Allah because from my humble background, I have reached the golden age and state where I have to be thankful.
The Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division, Alhaji Seifudeen Olowo-Oribi, kicked-off the ceremony with prayers and the commissioning of the mosque built and donated to the Agura community by Otunba Waliu Daisi in commemoration of his birthday.
The highlight of the ceremony was the cutting of the birthday cake by the celebrant with the assistance of his two wives and other dignitaries such as Oba Shotobi, Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya, the Olubeshe of Ibeshe land, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, and Oba Akeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo, Obateru of Egbin.
Also in attendance was the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, who coordinated the cake cutting session.
Popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Saheed Osupa was on the bandstand to dish out various melodious songs and tunes which got everyone dancing all through.
Other dignitaries at the event were Chairman NURTW, Lagos State Chapter, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, Chieftains of NURTW (Ikorodu and Lagos chapters), traditional chiefs in Agura, religious leaders, market men and women among others.
