The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has approved the setting up of a passport office and training school in Igbogbo/Bayeiku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ikorodu division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.
Comrade Sesan Daini, the Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeiku LCDA, confirmed this development to THE IMPACT during an exclusive interview in commemoration of his first year in office recently.
He stated that two plots of land have been allocated for the proposed passport office, along the Bola Ahmed Tinubu road in Igbogbo.
“I’m glad to inform you that we have concluded arrangement to have a passport office here in Igbogbo and we have allocated a land which was meant for a proposed market for that purpose. It’s a two plots of land meant for the proposed Adeyanlu market and it’s located close to the Igbogbo stadium.
“We did this because of the importance and the effects the passport office will have on our community and because we can always find another land for the proposed market.
On the training school, Comrade Daini stated that discussion is still ongoing.
“We are still working on the training school because we are yet to finalise on that. I think they (NIS) want to do the two projects in phases.”
According to report, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade I, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, played a vital role in influencing the location of the passport office and the training school in Igbogbo.
This was also confirmed by Hon Daini in the interview.
“The first phase that they are concentrating on is the passport office which Adeboruwa played a major role in getting for Igbogbo. Kudos to our highly revered Kabiyesi for ensuring that the passport office was brought to Igbogbo/Bayeiku LCDA.”
The Odofin of Igbogbo, High Chief Tajudeen Duduyemi Onasanya, also confirmed the development to our reporter.
“We are happy to have a monarch that understands the worth of development. Since his emergence as the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Kasali has been using his connection to bring development to Igbogbo and has also been supporting every good cause.
”He played a vital role in ensuring that the passport office and immigration training school which were approved for the division were brought to Igbogbo. The information came to him through one of his numerous ambassadors and he promptly acted on it.”
THE IMPACT also gathered that when the matter was presented at the meeting of the Ikorodu Division Council of Obas and Chiefs for discussion, Chief Onasanya’s incisive explanation on the efforts made by Igbogbo community regarding the passport office and training school surprised many of the traditional rulers and chiefs who were just getting the information.
But after the explanation by Chief Onasanya and Oba Kasali, the Chairman of the Ikorodu Division Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Kabir Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, and other Obas in the division accepted the two projects as developmental projects that would greatly impact on the social and economic development of Ikorodu division.
