The 21st edition of the world’s greatest football champioship will kick off today at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium with the match between Russia, the hosts and Saudi Arabia.
The opening ceremony beginning at 3.30pm will be held at the Luzhniki stadium with the English singer, song writer and actor, Robbie Williams and Russian opera singer Aida Garifullina will perform at the event.
According to reports, the ceremony will be attended by more than 20 heads of state.
The first match of the World Cup will be between the Russian and Saudi Arabian national teams. The match will begin at 4pm.
