The newly inaugurated chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Local Government (LGA), Alhaji Taiwo Longe, has inaugurated the local government and ward executive councils of the party in Ikorodu.
26 executive members were inaugurated at the LGA level, while 27 members were also inaugurated in each of the seven wards at the brief but well-attended ceremony held at the Fuwagbuyi Court secretariat of the party in Ikorodu.
Alhaji Longe was inaugurated on Wednesday, May 30, alongside other 56 party chairmen at the party’s State Secretariat at ACME, Ikeja, by the new state party Chairman, Alhaji Babatunde Balogun.
Among those inaugurated as LGA exco members on Thursday (today) by Alhaji Longe were Shotomiwa Niyi and Folami Sotubo as Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively.
In Ikorodu LGA Ward A, Aregbesola Yekinni, Ilesanmi Sulaimon and Kemi Fayinka were inaugurated as Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively.
In Ward B, Owolabi Tijani, Alake W.O and Oluwakemi Adesola sworn-in as Chairman, Vice chairman and Secretary respectively.
Kamoru Olayinka, Akashoro Rashidat and Taiwo Olayinka emerged as the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively in APC Ward C, Ikorodu LGA.
For Ward D, Kazeem Akinpelu, Remi Alashe and Shaheed Awobajo took oath of office as Chairman, Vice chairman and Secretary respectively.
In Ward E, it was Osuolale Ebuoso that emerged as the Chairman, while Abiodun Osikemi and Abiodun Adebayo are the Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively.
Rasheed Okoko, Iyabo Adebanjo and Adewale M. Sanni were inaugurated as the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively for ward F.
In Ward G, Segun Oshonubi is the Chairman while Rotimi Abimbola and Adediran Abayomi emerged as the Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively.
Alhaji Longe,while speaking with THE IMPACT, stated that the newly inaugurated executives of the party at the LGA and ward levels are to manage the affairs of the party for the next four years.
“We are gathered today to inaugurate the new excos of the party that are going to manage the affairs of the party for the next four years. Those are the elected officials in the just concluded congresses of our great party. We need to swear them in so that they can perform their normal duties in helping to repositioning our party.
“The LGA Chairmen were sworn-in yesterday (Wednesday) at the party’s State Secretariat in Ikeja and we were directed to do same today in our various LGA and wards.”
Speaking on the crisis that engulfed the party as a result of disagreements over the congresses, Alhaji Longe stated that it has been resolved in a family way.
“The entire brouhaha has been resolved internally. APC is a family party. We have our ways of resolving and managing our crisis and we have deployed necessary machineries in doing that. As far as Lagos APC is concerned, there is no rancor in our family. Our congresses were hitch-free.
“We have demonstrated to the world that we are a democratic party and we are capable of managing our affairs. This is because we want to go into the next general elections as one-big-united-family to win.
He also assured the party hierarchy that lkorodu chapter of the party is in safe hands and that they are going to deliver come next general elections.
“The reward for success is more work. We are going to give better performance. Our aim is to continue the winning run which started since 1999. We are going to move the party to the higher level.”
While also speaking with THE IMPACT, Comrade Kehinde Okeowo, the new Publicity Secretary of the party in Ikorodu, assured that her office would, as a matter of urgency, embark on sensitization of the party members and the general public on the need to register and get their voters’ card.
She also stated that the party would intensify action on the mobilization of new members..
Alhaji Aregbesola Yekinni, Chairman Ward A of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu, in his own reaction, stated that the wards shall continue to serve as the engine room of the party in terms of mobilization and sensitization.
