With one year left in his first four years as a representative of the Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly and ahead of the congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) slated for next month, party leaders in the constituency have endorsed Hon. Nurudeen Solaja for a second term.
The endorsement, which took place at Imota on Friday, April 27, 2018, during the 3rd edition of the Empowerment Programme instituted by the lawmaker for members of his constituency, gave a boost to his quest to retain his position as a state legislator and representative of his people in the 2019 general elections.
The motion for Hon. Solaja’s endorsement was moved by a notable party leader, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, an old Awoist, first Secretary to the Lagos State Government and a politician of note who had ensured the emergence of many people in the position of authority.
While moving the motion for Hon Solaja’s endorsement, Asiwaju Basorun informed other party leaders and the entire gathering at the event that he was endorsing Hon. Solaja because he has performed creditably well.
The motion was seconded by Mr Ajetunmobi after which Asiwaju Bashorun asked all the political leaders in Constituency II at the event to either voice their opposition or support the motion for the endorsement and they all raised their hands in clear demonstration of their unalloyed support for the second term ambition of Hon. Solaja.
Some of the leaders in Ikorodu Constituency II who also gave their supports to the endorsement of Hon. Solaja’s second term ambition were Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, a party chieftain in Lagos East Senatorial District, Hon. Babajimi Benson, Member of the Federal house of Representatives, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, former acting Commissioner for Tourism, arts & culture, Alhaji Sanni M.K, FORMER Member, Lagos State House of Assembly and former Chairman, Imota LCDA, Hon. Saheed Adefarasin Hassan, former Member, Lagos State House of Assembly and former Chairman, Imota LCDA, Evang. Falohun, Chairman, APC Ijede, Prince Jimoh Ogunmuyiwa, former Chairman, Ig bogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Wasiu Agoro, Chairman, Imota LCDA and Hon. Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
There were also, Chairman of the ruling party in the Imota, Igbogbo/Bayeku LGA, women leaders across the constituency and members of the Local Government Legislative Arm from Imota, Ijede and Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDAs among others.
Also, over 300 beneficiaries of the Hon. Solaja’s empowerment programme also supported the endorsement.
Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, an accountant and former Council Treasurer of Lagos Island Local Government, was elected by the people of Ikorodu Constituency II which comprises of Imota, Ijede and Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDAs) to represent them in the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2015.
