Traditional Rulers in Lagos State of Ijebu extraction have unanimously endorsed the candidacy of the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode to run for a second term in office.
The traditional rulers comprise: Epe, Eredo, Agbowa-Ikosin, Ikorodu and Ibeju-Lekki.
The traditional rulers made the declaration at the formal launching of the group in Epe.
The motion for the endorsement of Ambode for a second term in office was moved by Oba Akeem Adesanya on behalf of the Ijebu Traditional Rulers Group, Lagos State.
He was seconded by Oba Kabiru Sotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu.
In his speech, Oba Adesanya, the Alara of Ilara in Epe division, said that the endorsement of Ambode’s second term in office was a collective resolution reached by all the Ijebu traditional rulers in State.
He said that they were all overwhelmed at the meritorious services and developmental activities done by the Governor which deserved him second term.
“A good example is Epe division, which has been lacking behind in terms of infrastructure development over the years.
But Ambode changed the look and environment of the entire community to a mega city in less than three years.
“There is no room for another candidate to occupy the Governor’s seat come 2019 except Ambode.
‘’He has done beautifully well, that recommends him for second term in office.
“He has unfinished work to do come second term, therefore, no vacancy in Alausa secretariat for another candidate but Ambode, to finish is good work and humanitarian services, ” he said.
Also, Oba Sotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorudu, said that the endorsement was imperative, judging from unprecedented performances of Ambode.
He said that approach of the governor to governance was in consonant with progressives’ tenets as all his programmes were people-oriented.
The monarch said that Ambode’s landmark achievements were visible to all residents of the state in a spate of three years which merit him for second term in office.
“The second term bid of the governor is the priority of all the Lagos State Ijebu traditional rulers.
“The royal blessings showers on Gov. Ambode today’s will magnetise him for second term. ‘’Royal blessing is not what to play with, but will be as prophetised by the royal fathers, ” he said.
Earlier, Oba Babatunde Ogulaja, the Aladeshiyan of Odo-Noforija in Eredo, urged his subjects, community members and indigenes of the state to give Ambode their unalloyed support for second term in office.
“I urge all the residents of Lagos state to give their unalloyed support to our dear Governor for second term in office.
“This is necessary for residents of Lagos state to continuing enjoying the development and growth that his administration as brought to us all for the short period of time spent in office, ” he said.
