Makbet FC of Ibeshe in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area has qualified for the final match of the 10th edition of the Bolowotan Memorial Gold Cup.
The club defeated Excel FC 8 – 9 via penalty shootouts after playing a goalless draw at the regulation time of the first semi final match played on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Police Barracks Playing Ground in Ikorodu.
The second semi final between the three time winners of the tournament, A.A.C.C FC, and the Oga Boys FC failed to produce the second team that would be playing against Makbet FC in the final match which is yet to be fixed for a date.
In the highly tactical and technical match played on Saturday, March 10, 2018, also at the Police Barracks Playing Ground, both teams were unable to covert several chances created throughout the regulation time.
The highly entertaining match ended goalless draw with the young players of the A.A.C.C FC dominating the better part of the match while the Oga Boys FC whose players are older used their experiences in curtailing their rampaging opponents..
The match, however, could not proceed because of darkness as the football field, which is begging for attention, lacks flood light to illuminate the field. The organizers had to call for a replay after consultation with the two teams.
Adebimpe Idris, the 2016 Nigerian Football Federation Cup Final referee, FIFA badge Referee and CAF Trained young Referee, did a marvelous job as centre referee in the semi final match between A.A.C.C and Oga Boys FCs.
He was assisted by the Premier League Referee duo of Aina Idris and Oladosu Segun, while Alagbe Adeyinka was the 4th official and Alhaji Lookman Sonibare, the Referee Assessor.
