The three time winner of Bolowotan Memorial Gold Cup, A.A.C.C Football Club of Ikorodu, has emerged has one of the four teams which have qualified for the semi final matches of the 10th edition of the tournament currently going on at the Police Barracks Playing Ground, along Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu.
Other teams are Excel FC, Makbet FC and Oga Boyz FC.
A.A.C.C FC had won the tournament consecutively in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and also made it into the semi final stages of the 2015 and 2016 editions .
Excel FC defeated Current FC 7 -6 via penalty shootouts in the first quarter final match played on February 2, 2018, while Ketu Grassroots FC lost 2 – 3 to Makbet FC on February 16.
A.A.C.C FC had to settle for a lone goal victory over Victory FC in the third quarter final match with Samuel James scoring the lone goal.
In the fourth quarter final match, Boyz FC were clinical in front of goals as they whipped Eleniyan FC 3 – 0.
Shamsideen Sadiq (12), Apanisile Wale (16) and Simon Christian (25) scored the goals for the Oga Boyz FC in the 10th, 18th and 52nd minutes of the match.
Meanwhile, in the semi final pairings,Excel FC would play against Makbet FC while Oga Boyz FC would trade tackles with A.A.C.C FC in the second semi final match which has been tagged by analysts as a star match.
A total of 54 matches have so far been played in the tournament which kicked off with 28 teams.
Young Ubani Wisdom, a secondary school student who plays for A.A.C.C FC, is the leading goal scorer with six goals in five matches.
The date for the two semi final matches is yet to be decided by the organizers.
Meanwhile, the sponsor and the organizers of the tournament have promised to make both the semi final and final matches exciting for the spectators.
