The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has giving his blessings to the Tourism Innovation and Development Advantage (TIDA) Conference, which holds on 15 Feb 2018 at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Lagos.
Speaking to the organising partners who paid him a visit at his palace in Ile-Ife, the king re-emphasised his continuing interest in the growth of domestic tourism and the preservation of the country’s rich and varied indigenous heritage, which he has consistently championed since he was crowned in December 2015.
“I support TIDA initiatives and its twin projects – Virtual Tourism and the Tourism Entrepreneurship Development Academy (TEDA) —that will be launched at the conference,” he said, adding that an improved local tourism will benefit both the people and the society. “It is a step in the right direction.”
Also putting its weight behind the conference – organized by Skyview Communications – is the country’s top federal promotion and regulatory body, the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC).
“The Corporation believes that using virtual tourism to promote tourism would captivate the minds of would-be tourists to the vast tourism potentials of the country,” reads the letter of endorsement, signed by Funebi Out-Umondak on behalf of the corporation’s Director-General, Folorunsho Coker. “Quite importantly, TIDA will help re-direct the negative perception about the country and present Nigeria as a viable tourism destination.”
Speakers at the conference include: Halogen Security’s Bosun Sosanya (Topic: Security and Tourism); La Campagne Tropicana’s Wanle Akinbobiye (Advantages of tourism Development in Nigeria); OYASAF’s Prince Yemisi Shyllon (Challenges and Solutions of Tourism Development in Nigeria); Credite Capital’s Segun Ogunleye (Financial institutions and tourism development); Starship Group’s Adeduro Ademayowa (Insurance in the Nigerian Tourism Business); and Commstrat Associates Ltd’s Hakeem Adenekan (Nigerian Tourism and the Media).
