The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze weather conditions over the central states of the country on Saturday with horizontal visibility range of two to five kilometres.
NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Friday also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 28 to 38 and 11 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.
It also predicted that isolated visibility range of less than 1000m would prevail over cities like Kaduna, Minna, Gombe, Yola and Bauchi axis throughout the forecast period.
The agency predicted that the southern states would experience partly cloudy to cloudy morning with prospect of isolated thunderstorms over the coastal cities of Lagos, Warri, Calabar, Port-Harcourt later in the day.
It also predicted isolated thunderstorms over the high ground areas of Akure and Enugu with day and night time temperatures in the range of 33 to 37 and 20 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to NiMet, Northern States will experience dust haze with visibility range of two to five kilometres with day and night temperatures in the range of 31 to 35 and 13 to 19 degrees Celsius respectively.
“There also be isolated cases of less than 1000m over Nguru, Katsina, Sokoto, Yelwa and Maiduguri throughout the forecast period.
“Dust haze is expected over the north down to the central states with visibility range of two to five kilometres with isolated cases of less than 1000m expected to prevail over some places in the north and central states.
“However, chances of localized thunderstorms are not unlikely over the coast and high grounds areas of the south west in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.
