In its bid to make all State-owned parks and gardens more accessible to fun seekers across the State, the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK), has declared that all parks and gardens owned by the State Government are now opened to all Lagosians ‘free of charge’.

The General Manager of the Agency, Mrs. Bilikis Adebiyi-Abiola, who made this known in Lagos, stated that the development was part of the restructuring process of the Agency, adding that access to parks across the world is usually free and that Lagos should not be an exception.

The General Manager invited Lagosians to avail themselves of the unique opportunity provided by the State Government by visiting nearby parks and gardens with friends and family, not only recreation as an opportunity to cultivate a healthy lifestyle and general wellbeing.

“Parks all over the world are made free and accessible to all. People come in with families and friends to recreates and enjoy themselves without hindrance. Hence, in line with the Smart City agenda of the present administration, our parks and gardens will now be opened to families from far and wide across the state free of all charges,’’ she said.

While imploring event organizers, party planners, NGOs and Corporate bodies to partner with the Agency in hosting their events at reasonable costs, she also urged families across the State to celebrate their birthdays, graduations and all other special events at the parks at minimal costs.

Adebiyi-Abiola emphasized the commitment of the present administration in making life enjoyable for Lagosians through the provision of sustainable infrastructural amenities across different sectors of the State, adding that more recreational parks would be opened soon to complement the existing ones while existing parks would be upgraded by the State to improve the experience of users.

The General Manager listed some of the recreational parks in the State to include Muri Okunola Park, Victora Island; Ndubuisi Kanu Park, Alausa, Ikeja; Shasa Recreational Park, Ajako, Shasha; Ikorodu Recreational Park, Ebute Iga Ikorodu and Badagry Recreational Park, Idale-Topo, Badagry.

She assured the residents of Epe Local Government that the State Government has secured a land for the establishment of a recreational park within the area.
