The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, in partnership with the Lagos State Public Works Agency (LSPWC), on Sunday commenced intervention works on critical roads within the council area. The intervention followed an assessment of critical road infrastructure within the LCDA,by Chairman Aroyewun in the company of Engr Olugbenga Ogunlewe, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, Lagos State Public Works Corporation, particularly routes which deteriorating conditions have continued to hamper the movement of residents, traders and other road users. The rehabilitation exercise commenced on Sunday with the grading and opening up of Akindana Street opposite the UAMC Cathedral, Igbogbo, which has been abandoned for years. Further intervention will focus on Babajimi Benson Road (Igbe Road), Oba Molaja Road (Meri to Club 24 axis), Adebola Faniyi Street beside UAMC Methodist Cathedral among others. The rehabilitation of the identified roads, is expected to ease movement, improve accessibility and provide relief to residents and businesses that rely on the affected corridors. Speaking on the intervention, Omo’ba Aroyewun reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing infrastructure challenges affecting residents, and improving the overall quality of life across Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA. ”The condition of our roads is of great importance to the daily lives and economic activities of our people. We will continue to explore every available opportunity and partnership to ensure that critical infrastructure challenges are addressed”, the Chairman said. The Chairman noted that the partnership with the Lagos State Public Works Corporation reflects his administration’s proactive approach to governance, and its commitment to engaging relevant state institutions in the collective task of community development. He also emphasised that the collaboration with the LSPWC, underscores the commitment of his administration to leveraging strategic partnerships and available government resources to deliver practical and timely interventions for the people. Aroyewun assured residents and stakeholders of his administration’s continued focus on infrastructure development as a key component of the GLORY Agenda, and commitment to people-centred governance across Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
