IDPIL University Plan For Ikorodu Suspended Due To Political Issues -Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya

Oriwu College 1996 Set Kicks-Off 30th Graduation Anniversary With Prayers, Wallk For Fitness 

‎Kunle Adelabu ‎Members of the Class set of 1996, Oriwu College Old Students’ Association of Nigeria (OCOSAN), commenced the 30th anniversary of their graduation from the premier school in Ikorodu Division and one of the foremost schools in Nigeria – Oriwu College Ikorodu, with special prayer sessions and walk for fitness.  ‎ ‎ ‎The prayer sessions, which were held at the school’s chapel and mosque on Friday, kicked – off the celebration, and followed by walk for fitness on Saturday.   The walk, which drew a large number of members of the set, took off from OLAC (Oluwatoyin Lions Activities Centre) along Ibeshe Road to Ikorodu, Ireshe, Sheriff, Igbogbo Road and berthed at Oriwu College premises. There were also aerobics; novelty match between the old student’s team and the current students of the school, and table tennis game.  ‎  ‎ ‎Representatives of the OCOSAN national body led Mrs Adebola Sherifat Onile-Ere, National Vice President, and other class sets also joined in the celebration.  ‎ ‎ ‎Mr Odumuyiwa Adewale, Chairman, OCOSAN 1996 Set, speaking with THE IMPACT, the official media partner of the anniversary, at the event, spoke about the significance of the celebration.  ‎ ‎ ‎”It is worth celebrating. To God be the glory. We left this school in 1996, and many years have passed, and while some of us have gone, many of us are still alive. For those of us who are alive, there is a cause for us to say thank you, God. ‎  ‎ ‎”Here we are, and we are successful people. We give God the glory. We have been counting for 30 years, and to His glory, we are going to celebrate 40 years, 50 years, and many more years.  ‎ ‎ ‎”The school has been good to us, and we have come here to give back to the school where we left many years ago. To God be the glory, we are trying our best. We have many professionals among us. We have doctors, lawyers, engineers, tax professionals, and chartered accountants. To God be the glory, after 30 years, we have records to show”,he said with heart full of praises. ‎ ‎He assured that his set will continue to give back to their old school, while wishing chieftains and members happy celebration.   ‎ ‎”Going forward, the school has tried for us, and we have to give back to the school. So, in the next couple of years and for another decade, we are still going to continue giving back to the school. This is our alma mater, and we are not going to forget the school. ‎ ‎ “My message to all my colleagues is to wish them a happy celebration. We will celebrate another 10 years and more together, in Jesus’ name”. ‎ ‎ ‎Speaking on other activities lined up for the celebration, Odumuyiwa also added that the major aspect of the grand finale will be welfare packages for some of the set’s members.  ‎ ‎  ‎”By Thursday, we are going to engage the JSS 3 and SSS 3 students on career choices. We are inviting experts who will speak to them on important topics about their careers. Then, on Saturday, we are going to have the grand finale. This time around, we are giving back to our members and looking after their welfare.  ‎ ‎ ‎”As we always say, fingers are not equal, so, there will be cash gifts for the less privileged among us. There will also be food packages for some of our members who are in need.  ‎ ‎ ‎”We even have a package that will cover their health. Our medical experts are here, including doctors, and they will look at whatever health challenges our members have and see how we can be of help. That is our mission for this 30th anniversary”, he said.  ‎ ‎  ‎The OCOSAN National Vice President, Mrs Adebola Yetunde Sherifat Onile-Ere, who represented the National President, Alhaji M. B. S. Arole, congratulated members of the set and commended them for the celebration.  ‎ ‎”In fact, I  find this as a very great privilege to be representing the President, and so far, the 1996 set have done wonderfully well. ‎ ‎”The 1996 class is celebrating their 30th anniversary with this walk for fitness and as we all know.  They are saying gealth is wealth. ‎”The anniversary walk that they organized is very wonderful. The aerobics and the football match with the students, are also fantastic. ‎ ‎  ‎”I feel it’s going to be a sort of encouragement to the current students for them to work harder and be very focused on what they are doing do so  that they too can graduate and be great people in life. It will encourage them to face their studies so that they too can impact the lives of those that are coming behind them in the nearest future”. ‎ ‎She urged them to sustain their activeness and support the national body’s project.  ‎ ‎”My charge to them going forward is that they should keep doing what they are doing. And, just as we have been saying to every class set, we want them to always get in touch with the national body on projects.  ‎ ‎”We also want them to continue to support the national body and at the moment, the project at hand is the OCOSAN national secretariat.  ‎ ‎  ‎”They should also put in more efforts and give back to the students in form of prizes  to encourage and motivate them”, she said.  ‎ ‎ ‎On Thursday, 24th September, 2026, there will be career talk with JSS 3 and SSS 3 sets at the Oriwu College Hall with resource persons and educators invited to speak to the students on the theme, “Build Your Future, Grow Together”. ‎ ‎The grand finale is slated for Saturday, 26th September, 2026. It is themed, “One Set, One Family, One Celebration”.
